Ruining The Movie
04:25
|
|||
I said, "Turn around
Don't you know he's right behind you?"
I said, "Quiet down
If you make too much noise, they'll find you"
I said, "Don't you dare
Go off peering down that hallway"
I said, "Don't go there
They've been staking it out all day"
And they said,
"You're ruining the movie
For the rest of us
You're ruining the movie
Quit guessing at the end
You don't have to prove me
Every little fuss
Just sit and watch the movie
If it's time you're gonna spend"
I said, "Hold it, son
That's not how you hold a racket"
I said, "Anyone
Can just come right up and smack it"
I said, "How are you
Ever gonna make the roster?"
I said, "Get a clue
Or else you'll seem like an imposter"
And he said,
"You're ruining the movie
For the rest of us
You're ruining the movie
Quit guessing at the end
You don't have to prove me
Every little fuss
Just sit and watch the movie
If it's time you're gonna spend"
I said, "What's the draw
If this isn't gonna turn out?"
I said, "There's a flaw
And our love is gonna burn out"
I said, "Why should I
Try to save a ship that's sinking"
I said, "Justify
All your dreamy wishful thinking"
And she said,
"You're ruining the movie
For the rest of us
You're ruining the movie
Quit guessing at the end
You don't have to prove me
Every little fuss
Just sit and watch the movie
If it's time you're gonna spend"

We Want Barabbus
03:34
|
|||
When they tore the curtain down to reveal
Every hoax and treason and dirty deal
We could not believe it was a charade
Used to earn our trust, then have it betrayed
So as all our bearings became unglued
Our concern for news programs was renewed
And we took in all that we could digest
To be educated for the next test
'Cause we're mad as hell, and we're not gonna take this anymore
No longer will we play this game of bull and matador
We see just how they pick our pockets, leaving not a dime
But we're not gonna let them get away with it this time
Well we've heard the news on the radio
And we're gonna act on what we know
'Cause we have the power of people's choice
If we only can unify our voices
And when our time finally arrives
We will pull our guns and unsheath our knives
As we take our cause out into the streets
We'll take back what's ours from the top elites
'Cause we're mad as hell, and we're not gonna take this anymore
Our megaphones are turned so high that they cannot ignore
Our overwhelming push to turn the order back around
Beginning with the ballots, we will let our voices sound.....
We want Barabbus

She waited for him far inside
A lofty tower, starry-eyed
While humming to the tune of wedding bells
For she knew she would be a bride
If their two hearts would but collide
In bright, harmonic pink & blue pastels
She dreamt of how he would appear
When finally his ship drew near
And he stepped on her shore with weathered feat
His handsome looks and lack of fear
Would complement her hemisphere
If only they could find the means to meet
And oh, if he she could
He she could but find
Oh, she'd leave it all
Leave it all behind
He swept the world in search of her
As if an olden voyager
Whose mission was to find a hidden land
He didn't watch the calendar
As time elapsed into a blur
He wouldn't stop until he had her hand
Although he didn't know her name
He knew he'd love her just the same
For she would consummate his master plan
The two would spark a lasting flame
For she would be the proper dame
To finally make him the proper man
And oh, if she he could
She he could but find
Oh, he'd leave it all
Leave it all behind
Perhaps it was their destiny
To make each other's company
Or maybe it was just a thing of chance
But underneath a cherry tree
One day they met and instantly
They knew that it would be their dream romance
They could've dined by candlelight
Or had a walk or flown a kite
But they decided on a trip instead
They felt their bond so watertight
That they took off into the night
And on the next day, they were proudly wed
And oh, they left it all
Left it all behind
Oh, they left it all
Left it all behind

Ghastly Little Brats
03:56
|
|||
Well,
My sister-in-law's in town
I'd better hunker down
When she comes hither
'Cause that means
Them ghastly little brats
In their jeans and backward hats
Are coming with her
For there
Is nothing I can say
Their visitation day
Is already slated
Just like
All those other times
With them and all the crimes
They perpetrated
They made
My carpets gritty
They teased my kitty
And broke my chair
They stained
My good material
Ate all my cereal
And didn't care
So
I'm gonna hide my rings
And all the other things
That I treasure
And I'm
Gonna set out traps
In hopes it handicaps
Their wicked pleasure
Them brats
Ain't got no boundaries
And their tyrannic sprees
Need to be corrected
I ask
How could I survive
All the ways that I've
Been disrespected?
They made
Darts out of my pencils
Used paints and stencils
All over the house
They barged
In on my computer
To see which was cuter
A baby bird or mouse
They filled
My shoes with rice and
Made calls to Iceland
And Vietnam
They left
Holes in my drywall
Spiked my milk with Midol
And wouldn't scram
(Ghastly little brats)

Boxcar Breakaway
04:17
|

Follow the leader
And never look back
You'll see only cedar
And miles of steel track
If you catch a yearning
It adds to the tow
So keep those wheels turning
Don't mind where they go
You're nothing but the carraige and wheel
For transportation on the railway
Logistics for the lumber and steel
You carry to point B from point A
You'll never be an automobile
You weren't designed to function that way
So disregard the things you may feel
And second-guess the things you might say
I hear you loud, I hear you clear
But there's an unexplored frontier
Just past the track that beckons near
That's where I fall
I'm going far away from here
Your warnings find no mindful ear
Won't heed your rules, won't heed your fear
I'll heed the call
I know I wasn't built for this
Gonna jump the track today
Careening toward the wilderness
In a boxcar breakaway

Never Thought
03:50
|
|||
I never thought that you'd take opposing sides and contradict me
I never thought that you'd throw away my love, God forbid
I never thought that you'd pack my bags and evict me
Oh, but you did
I never thought that you'd want to give it up and just erase me
I never thought that you'd have such a hard time off the grid
I never thought that you'd find it effortless to replace me
Oh, but you did

What Is This?
04:12

You & me
What are we?
I try to find the words to fit this thing that we have goin'
But how do you describe a work of art without it showin'?
I don't know what I'm lookin' for, but hopefully I'll know in
Time
'Cause this deserves description that's beyond what we've been given
It isn't superficial, it's emotionally driven
Like life's a giant song, and we created us a livin'
Rhyme
Me & you
Far from through
It seems as though it hasn't been that long since first it started
This interchange of thoughts and feelings, so much we've imparted
I've never felt so comfortable, nor been so openhearted
Before
I've set aside my preconceptions, doubted disillusion
This thing we have might save me from a lifetime of reclusion
If this confuses me, well then I hope there's more confusion
In store
What is this?
It's exciting
And it's new
It's unnerving
To pursue
But it's something
I can feel
It's fantastic
Yet it's real
It's surprising
Unexpected
It's electric
It's connected
It's so fresh and
It's so thrilling
Dare I say it?
It's fulfilling a part of me
It's friendship, isn't it?
This is friendship, isn't it?
Well then we are the truest friendship I've ever known
(I've ever known)

Happy As A Clam
05:15
|
|||
I took myself to the grocery store
In a 1996 four-door
A pouch of coupons in my hands
In case they didn't have off-brands
Inside I grabbed a loaf of bread
Potato sack and lettuce head
Some ramen noodles, beans and rice
Tortilla chips at discount price
And at the checkout with a wink
I told the young cashier to think
Of all the goods that I had bought
I hallowed treasure, were they not?
She smirked a bit uncomfortably
In an attempt to humor me
But she did not owe me a thing
For I was living like a king
'Cause I'm as happy as a clam
Ain't got no pressing needs
My grass ain't greener, but I am
Completely rid of weeds
I took myself to the dollar show
Whose scheduled times I didn't know
Just made a somewhat random pick
And bought a ticket for a flick
I skirted past the concession line
My chewing gum would do me fine
And sticky floors I didn't want
So I sat at the very front
The film began with no delays
This copy had seen better days
But all the wear and tear could not
Affect the acting or the plot
And when the movie show was done
I stayed to watch the credits run
While feeling very much content
With the dollar I had spent
'Cause I'm as happy as a clam
Ain't got no pressing needs
My grass ain't greener, but I am
Completely rid of weeds
I hitched a ride to a party at
A fancy person's fancy flat
Where trendy music played throughout
So loud you nearly had to shout
The things to do were to converse
Or binge on beer -- which one was worse?
Fed up with boredom, I came back
To hang my hat and hit the sack
Some may say my life ain't fun
Well, that's just how they see it
And if that means I'll have no one
To be my friend, so be it
'Cause I'm as happy as a clam
Ain't got no pressing needs
My grass ain't greener, but I am
Completely rid of weeds
